What Is a Promotion?
A promotion is a discount with a calendar attached. Unlike a manual discount button that staff tap on individual orders, a promotion switches itself on and off: only orders placed within the promotion period automatically receive the promotion. During the period, qualifying orders get the discount without anyone remembering to apply it. After the end date, it stops on its own.
Use a promotion when you want a storewide (or store-specific) offer for a fixed window — a festive sale, a slow-month boost, a new-outlet opening special.
Before You Start
-
Decide the discount: a flat dollar amount or a percentage off the order.
-
Decide the exact start and end dates. Orders outside this window never get the discount.
-
Know which stores (sales channels) the offer should cover — by default it covers all of them.
Open the Promotions Page
-
In your EasyBiz Console, click the Search box in the top navigation bar.
-
Type Promotions and select the Promotions page from the results.
-
The Promotion page lists every promotion you have created, with columns for Promotion, Discount, Start, End, and Status.
Create a Promotion
-
Click New promotion at the top right.
-
Fill in the fields below.
-
Click Start promotion to activate it, or Save to keep it as an inactive draft you can activate later.
Promotion title
The name of your offer, for customer display and reporting — for example “Year End Sale”. Keep it short and customer-friendly.
Discount
The discount every qualifying order receives. Toggle between a flat amount (a fixed dollar value off) and a percentage (a share of the order value off).
Promotion period
The start and end dates. Only orders placed within the promotion period will automatically receive the promotion. Before the start date the promotion shows as Not started; after the end date it shows as Expired.
Promotion products
A promotion currently applies to all products — per-product limiting is not available on this form yet. To discount specific items only, use a price list change or a manual discount option instead.
Promotion store
Optional. Limit the promotion to selected stores (sales channels) only — by default it applies to all stores. Useful when only one outlet is running the offer.
Minimum order
Optional. Only apply the promotion to orders above a certain amount — for example, 10% off orders of $50 or more.
User limit
Tick Limit to first time user only to make this a new-customer offer. Returning customers will not receive the discount.
Check It Worked
After clicking Start promotion you are returned to the promotion list. Verify:
-
Your new promotion appears in the list with the correct discount and dates.
-
Its Status badge shows Active (or Not started if the start date is in the future — it will activate on its own).
-
Place a small test order that meets your conditions during the period and confirm the discount appears on the order total.
Understanding the Status Column
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Active | The promotion is switched on and today falls inside the period — qualifying orders get the discount |
| Not started | Switched on, but the start date is in the future |
| Expired | The end date has passed — no new orders get the discount |
| Disabled | Switched off by you — no orders get the discount, but the setup is kept |
Stopping or Changing a Promotion
-
Let it expire. The cleanest way to end an offer — after the end date it stops automatically.
-
Disable it early. Open the promotion via its Edit link, then click Disable . The promotion stops immediately but stays in your list, so you can update the dates and start it again later.
-
Update it. For an active promotion, make your changes and click Update promotion .
FAQs
What is the difference between a promotion and a discount option?
A discount option is a button staff tap on one order at a time, whenever they judge it appropriate. A promotion applies automatically to every qualifying order during its period — no staff action needed. See Create a Discount or Surcharge Option for manual discounts.
Can I run a promotion at just one of my outlets?
Yes. Use the Promotion store field to limit it to selected stores. By default a promotion covers all stores.
Can I limit a promotion to certain services or products?
Not with a promotion — it applies to all products on qualifying orders. To discount specific items, adjust their price in a price list for the period, or give staff a manual discount option to apply case by case.
How do I run a new-customer-only offer?
Tick Limit to first time user only under User limit. Only customers placing their first order will receive the discount.
Do I have to delete a finished promotion?
No. An expired promotion simply stops applying. Keeping it in the list preserves your reporting history and lets you reuse the setup next season by updating the dates.
